On the note of the IR lance on PLD. People use it over the earth staff because the Earth Staff is -20% Physical damage. But the IR lance has -10% damage taken, this does include magic damage, so you could totally use that when your getting blasted by a chainspell, you might just live <.<; Shellra V ftw.

It's interesting they have these items some reduce magic dmg some reduce physical dmg and some reduce breath dmg (not sure if that would be tossed into either of the other two) so i think that the IR would definitely be better because you don't have to worry about things like "Kirin just popped a tic tac! hes gonna breathe on me! wheres my breath gear?!"

Agreed at the end of the day all anyone cares about nowadays is overall -damage (Covers all type of damage, not one of the 3) or magic damage, seing how PLD/NIN is pretty much the best tank at endgame, and if any good won't get hit much. Plus its not Physical damage you gotta worry about. It's the high tier ga spells and AM.
